January

John is approached to the theme tune for the movie 9-1/2 weeks. John joins 
Jonathon Elias in the studios, they record several tracks together including 
"I do what I do" and "Jazz"

Nick and Andy work on new material in LA for two weeks

John's solo single "I do what I do" is released in UK

May 11

John and Nick meet in London to discuss and plan next Duran album, 
they have difficulty getting in touch with Andy

June 11

Simon joins John and Nick to begin writing lyrics.

Simon pursues Andy for two weeks, after many phone calls Andy agrees 
to join the band in the studio but doesn't show up.

Andy informs Nick of his intention to make this his last album with Duran

Legal action is threatened from Duran against Andy, Andy then countersues.

Nick meets with John in New York to discuss future of Duran

John invites Steve Ferrone to play drums during rehearsals for new album, Gerry Laffy 
also contibutes guitar for demos

Recording of Notorious begins, producer Nile Rogers is recruited. 
Recording is constantly interrupted by legal problems with Andy.

Drum book and video is released. the video includes a solo song by Simon 
called "Grey Lady of the Sea"

Grey Lady of the Sea is release in Japan on 3"CD
