October

The guys are presented with an award from the American Society of Composers, 
Authors and Publishers in recognition of the song "Is there something I should know?

Wild Boys is released featuring a "harder" image, the single reaches number 2 and 
stays on the UK chart for 14 weeks.

November

Nick's book "Interference" is released featuring abstract Polaroid pictures 
manipulated by computer.

Arena the album is released, a live album recorded during the bands recent world tour by 
George Tutko and mixed by Jason Corsaro. It also features the single studio recorded version 
of Wild Boys. 



It reaches number 6 in the UK album chart and stays there for 31 weeks.

November 26

Duran join forces with Bob Geldof, Midge Ure and many stars to record a single under the name 
Band Aid, the song is called "Do they know it's chrismas?" and was made to raise money for Ethiopia.

December

Do they know it's christmas? is released it hits the charts at number one and remains 
in the UK chart for 13 weeks.

December 27

Nick opens an exhibition for his book Interference at the Hamilton Gallery, London, 
although Julianne captures the headlines in the newspapers by wearing a dress with 
a revealing glimpse of her backside. 

The exhibition runs through until 9th January.

1985

John approaches Bond producer Cubby Broccoli at a party and asks him if Duran Duran 
could perform the next Bond theme..

April

Paris, filming of A View to a Kill. Andy flew in from England, John flew in from New York 
and met Roger, Nick and Simon who were busy working.

May

A View to a Kill, the theme tune for the latest Bond film is released, it reaches number 2 
and stays in the UK chart for 16 weeks, it is held off number 1 by Paul Hardcastle's "19".

John makes his acting debut as a Hacker in a pilot episode of a series called Timeslip 
for Yorkshire TV starring alongside ex-girlfriend Virginia Hey.

Duran perform at the Montreux pop festival

July

Duran arrive in Philadelphia and stay at the Wyndham Franklin Plaza.

July 13

Duran Duran and Power Station perform at Live Aid in Philadelphia.

Summer/Autumn

Power Station is taken on the road

Simon spends time on his sailing project and the Arcadia project with Nick and Roger

September

Duran do not get together as planned, problems with management and record company are blamed

November

Andy begins to work on solo projects in Los Angeles and is offered the chance to record a solo album
Andy hires Steve Jones of the Sex Pistols, they begin to record Andy's album.

December

Roger announces that he will not rejoin Duran due to the pressure and stress. Roger moves out of London
into a farmhouse in Gloucestershire to spend time with his wife and children.

December 24

John announces his engagement to top model Renee Simonsen

December 27

Simon marries Yasmin Parveneh at short notice in a 15 minute ceremony at a registry office in Oxford
The band members attend service with the exception of John who was unable to attend

The couple honeymoon in Scotland and South of France.
